The Northwest is the far corner of the Las Vegas Valley, roughly west of the 215 Beltway and north of the Centennial and Cheyenne corridors, rising toward the Sheep Mountain and Spring Mountain foothills, with the Mount Charleston and Spring Mountains recreation corridor up U.S. 95. It is a geographic area made up of many separate master plans, family communities, golf communities and 55+ neighborhoods, not a single development.

No. People in the valley commonly call the local commercial corridor the Centennial Hills area, and Centennial Hills Park, Centennial Hills Hospital and Centennial High School are well known there. But Centennial Hills is itself one peer community in the Northwest, not the parent of the others, and no community in this directory is nested under another. Each of the 18 guides stands on its own.

They are separate, peer communities in the Northwest area. Two of them, Providence and Skye Canyon, are large master plans that contain their own internal named villages, and those villages belong to that plan. But none of the listed communities is nested inside another, and the site never presents one community as another community's child.

Most of the Northwest sits roughly 15 to 20 miles northwest of the Las Vegas Strip, and U.S. 95 runs straight through the heart of the area, with the I-215 Beltway at its southern edge. Freeway connections keep commutes to downtown and the rest of the valley faster than the raw distance suggests, and the mountains are in the other direction.

The far northwest edge of the area sits close to the roads that climb into the Spring Mountains: Kyle Canyon and Lee Canyon Roads. That puts Mount Charleston and the Spring Mountains recreation corridor roughly 30 to 45 minutes from most of the Northwest, a cooler summer escape and a winter destination, all off the U.S. 95 corridor.

The Northwest is home to Los Prados, a guard-gated golf community with a 55+ section, and to Trilogy Sunstone, the 55+ active-adult enclave within the Sunstone master plan, with more options across the valley.
