The authority guide

What MacDonald Ranch is

One ranch, four communities: a luxury guard-gated world, a members' club, a family neighborhood and a Del Webb 55+ village, all under the same umbrella.

The MacDonald family bought Las Vegas valley land from the early 1970s and became one of the area's largest private landowners, naming their contiguous property MacDonald Ranch. Residential development of the villages followed from the mid-1990s, with Sunridge built in the late 1990s and the luxury Highlands following around 2002.

For buyers the branding matters. 'MacDonald Ranch' on a listing can mean a 55+ home at Sun City MacDonald, a custom estate in Mac Highlands, a members' club home in The Foothills, or a family house in Sunridge. The parent-child structure this master has been left accurate: the Highlands, the Foothills, Sunridge and Sun City sit inside the ranch.

The ranch sits in the southeastern corner of Henderson, south of the 215, with the valley lights below and the McCullough Range behind. Golf, gating and view lots define the character.

Inside MacDonald Ranch

Four communities inside MacDonald Ranch

These are the verified member communities of the ranch. Each has its own guide on this site.

Authority systems for future work: each member community of the ranch is now a child page; individual enclaves within the Highlands could grow into a deeper project later.

The structure

One umbrella, four communities

The ranch's developer describes the property as one master area, named MacDonald Ranch by the family who assembled it, containing the residential villages. On this site, the communities with verified parent-child status are Sun City, the Highlands, Sunridge and The Foothills. The Highlands is the luxury member of the ranch, not a separate community; every other member sits at the same level under the umbrella.

The practical reading for buyers: compare within the ranch first. If you want the youngest community, dead-on club housing or the 55+ lifestyle, each guide under this page explains what you are really looking at.

DragonRidge

The private club of the Highlands

DragonRidge Country Club is the members-only 18-hole championship course {Hend} Its clubhouse is built onto a volcanic ridge, and the modern custom estates of the Highlands wrap around it. DragonRidge is private: no public tee times, membership drives access.

Schools

Public schools in the ranch area

The ranch sits in the Clark County School District. Del E. Webb Middle School on Reunion Drive and Glen C. Taylor Elementary near the ranch are the widely cited zone schools for the surrounding neighborhoods; confirm your address with the district's zoning tool before relying on any one campus.

Living here

Foothills, gates and views

Every part of the ranch climbs above the valley floor, which means views, cooler evening air and a sense of separation from the bustle below. Gating is the other trademark: the Highlands runs 24-7 guard staff, The Foothills is guard-gated, and even the family neighborhoods read as a quiet, planned village.
